Did you go to school for this?
I get asked this question a lot, so I’m going to try to address it a little. No, I didn’t go to school for recording and having a studio. What I will say is that I went into debt, studied books, magazines, and anything just like a student to get to the point that I am today. I went to the school of hands on training.
I started out as a artist, I rapped and sung and beat boxed, and I wanted to be able to record myself and not have anyone else tell me what I could or couldn’t do. So that’s when I started collecting equipment and learning. It took me a long time to get to where I was comfortable, but I did get there.
My advice if you want to start a recording studio, go and get all of the magazines and website information that you can handle. Sites like gearsluts, harmony-central, future producers and others offer a wealth of information
